Program Descriptions

Programs operate June 8-August 14, 2026, with make up days available August 17-19. Our progressive curriculum and small groups help athletes meet new challenges throughout the summer. Cohesive groups led by professional coaches include mentorship, applying life skills to the outdoors. Coaches will seek opportunities to participate with local non-profits, such as learning about the Great Blue Heron from the CB Land Trust, practicing outdoor skills with CB Mountain Rescue, and always making sure to "Leave No Trace." Participants are encouraged to seek volunteer opportunities. All groups will have an age-appropriate First Aid Skill of the Week and a Wildflower of the Week. Mountain Bike Racing opportunities are available throughout the season, with support from our coaches. Cohesive groups led by professional coaches include mentorship, applying life skills to the outdoors.

K-1st Grade: Beginner-Easy Bike & Explore (Mondays and/or Fridays 1/2 day) $600

  • Participants will be introduced to biking on uneven surfaces, including single track trails, developing balance and coordination. Braking, shifting, and developing pedal power will be components of the bike sessions. Nature exploration is part of each day.

  • 10% off if registered for both days

1st-2nd Grade Beginner-Easy Mountain Bike & Explore (Tue/Thu) $1800

  • Participants will be introduced to biking on uneven surfaces, including single track trails, and develop spatial awareness. Braking, shifting, and developing pedal power will be components of the bike sessions. First aid skills and nature exploration are part of the daily plan.

2nd-3rd Grade: Beginner-Intermediate Bike & Explore (Wednesdays) $950

  • Participants will be introduced to biking on uneven surfaces, including single track trails, developing balance and coordination. Braking, shifting, and developing pedal power will be components of the bike sessions. Nature exploration is part of each day.

2nd-4th Grade: Intermediate+ Bike & Explore (Fridays) $600

  • Participants will develop technical mountain biking skills and explore trails in a small group setting. Shifting, building endurance, taking on new trail challenges, and bike maintenance will be components of the bike sessions. First aid skills, map reading, and nature exploration are part of the daily plan.

3rd-4th Grade: Intermediate Mountain Bike & Explore (Mon/Wed) $1800

  • Participants will develop technical mountain biking skills and explore trails in a small group setting. Shifting, building endurance, taking on new trail challenges, and bike maintenance will be components of the bike sessions. First aid skills, map reading, and nature exploration are part of the daily plan, with alternate activities on rainy days

3rd-4th Grade Intermediate Mountain Bike & Explore (Tue/Thu) $1800

  • Participants will develop technical mountain biking skills and explore trails in a small group setting. Braking, shifting, and route selection will be components of the bike sessions. First aid skills, map reading, and nature exploration are part of the daily plan.

5th-6th Grade: Beginner-Easy Bike & Explore (Mondays) $950

  • Participants will be introduced to a variety of trails, including single track trails, to develop fitness and coordination. Braking, shifting, and building pedal power will be components of the bike sessions, building confidence in a small group learning environment. First Aid skills and paddle boarding are also featured activities.

5th-6th Grade: Intermediate-Advanced Mountain Bike & Explore (Tue/Thu) $1800

  • Participants will develop technical mountain biking skills and explore trails in a small group setting. Braking, shifting, and route selection will be components of the bike sessions. Paddle boarding days available. First aid skills, map reading, and nature exploration are part of the daily plan.

7th-8th Grade: Intermediate-Advanced+ Mountain Bikes, Hikes, Lakes, & Outdoor Skills (Tue/Thu) $1800

  • Participants will develop technical mountain biking skills and increase fitness. Bike maintenance will be a component of the bike sessions. First aid skills, map reading, and nature exploration are part of the daily plan, with paddle boarding, a campout, and rainy day alternatives.

Lady Shred Mountain Biking & More: Confidence through Pedal Power Intermediate-Advanced+ (Mondays 7th-10th Grade, Wednesdays 5th-7th Grade) $950

  • Participants will develop confidence through building technical mountain biking skills, increasing fitness, and practicing leadership. Route planning and bike maintenance will be components of the bike sessions. First aid skills, paddle boarding, and campouts are part of the program.

  • 10% off if registered for both days

7th-9th Grade Guys: Advanced + Mountain Bike Shred Sessions, Paddle Boarding, & Outdoor Skills (Wednesdays) $950

  • Participants will develop technical mountain biking skills, increase fitness, and practice leadership. Route planning and bike maintenance will be components of the bike sessions. First aid skills and paddle boarding, as well as two campouts, are part of the program.

6th-9th Grade: Enduro/XC Race Prep for Advanced Mountain Bikers Seeking Racing Opportunities and Fast-Paced Fun (Fridays) $400

  • Session 1 June 12 - July 10

  • Session 2 July 17 - August 14

  • 10% off race prep if registered other days

  • Athletes will build fitness and prepare for the upcoming race season. Endurance, line choice, passing, safe and fast descending, mindset, and climbing efficiency are components the Race Prep group. Participants do not need prior racing experience- this program is designed to give athletes interested in racing an opportunity to try it out with supportive coaching and a focus on having fun while trying their best to meet new challenges.

  • Race Entry is included for one race per session, including Salida’s FiBike Race on June 21, CB Junior Wildflower Classic on June 29, or other options.

Mountain Biking Levels:

  • Beginner: new to biking on trails, can pedal and balance on smooth surfaces without training wheels

  • Easy: pedaling w/safe stops, easy/flat singletrack, gaining spatial awareness, learning to use pedal power to go uphill and learning to descend short hills with control

  • Intermediate: up/down singletrack, learning independent shifting, moderate distances with hilly trails, learning to go up and over challenges in singletrack trails like small roots and rocks

  • Advanced: longer distances & more challenges, including technical singletrack, berms, and drops

Note about Youth Programs:

  • When registering, grade level is grade participant will enter for 2025/2026 school year

  • Most Programs run June 8-August 14, Private Bike Lessons available April through October

  • All summer programs must have four registered participants to be a "GO."

  • All programs are open to all genders, with the exception of the Lady Shred Sessions, which are open to female youth, and Guys Groups, which are open to male youth.

Make Up Days:

  • Additional Week August 17-19 Available upon Request for Make Up Days

  • Depending on availability, participants can attend "make up days" other days of the week. If your paid number of days are used, additional days may be purchased at the session day rate.

Drop In Days:

  • Only in town a short time this summer? Cousins or friends visiting? Drop Ins may be accepted for ages 7+. Please complete the Drop In Form, including your requested dates. Space is limited and we may not be able to accommodate all Drop In requests. Drop In limit of 5 Days per participant. If your participant plans on attending more than 5 days, please complete a summer-long program registration, as this secures your spot in the program and helps us plan our staffing needs.

CB Mountain Mentors offers small-group youth outdoor education programs, with mountain bikes as our mode of exploration and transportation. The summer schedule posted below may change based on enrollment. Participants typically register for the entire summer session for a one or two day per week program. Drop-In Days may be available. New or visiting clients are encouraged to check out our Private Lesson offerings for youth and adults.
